NEWTOWN, Conn.—Holden Kriss and Bill Kempffer have been named president and vice president of the National Association of Shooting Ranges (NASR), a division of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF).

"We are very enthusiastic about the leadership, knowledge and professionalism both Holden and Bill take to their positions. Their understanding of business and shooting range issues will serve NASR and the shooting range industry and community well,” said Rick Patterson, NSSF director of facility development.

Kriss, who has served as NASR's vice president for the last four years, has nearly 20 years of shooting range management experience. He is the manager of Florida’s Indian River County Public Shooting Range, an NASR Five Star-rated range regarded as one of the nation’s best. Additionally, Kriss managed Markham Park Target Range for 14 years in Broward County, Fla. He has been a featured speaker at numerous national events and holds several teaching certifications, from NRA Police Instructor to Certified Shooting Coach.

“I am thrilled and honored to take on the challenge for shooting ranges everywhere, and look forward to furthering the causes of ranges across the country,” said Kriss, who succeeds Miles Hall as president.

Kempffer, who has served on NASR's executive committee for five years, has 17 years of experience in the shooting range business. He is the founder, owner and manager of Deep River Sporting Clays and Shooting School in Sanford, N.C., a facility of both national and international recognition and an NASR Four Star-rated range. Before opening the facility in 1989, Kempffer amassed a successful 16-year career as a broker for Merrill Lynch. He is a National Sporting Clays Association Certified Level III Instructor and a member of the Institute of Clay Shooting Instructors in the United Kingdom.

Kriss and Kempffer were elected at NASR's annual executive committee meeting on Feb. 8 in Las Vegas.
