To create the framing pieces, cut two layers of ½-inch AC plywood to 6-inch widths using the plywood as a straight-edge guide. Apply construction adhesive (stickwithpl.com) to form a permanent bond. Secure the plywood with 1 ¼-inch deck screws until the glue sets. A simple carpenter's square ensures straight assembly. After one length of plywood is attached to the 2x6, flip the pieces over and use a square to align the other side while driving the deck screws.
