Fasten the gun rack's front. A 1x6 makes up the front of the gun rack and completes the lower carriage. Pre-drill for 1 5/8-inch deck screws. The 1x6 front extends 1 1/2 inches on either side. This allows the front to fully cover the end of the 2x6 that makes up the leg assembly and creates a stronger connection between the carriage and the rack's leg assembly. At this point, doublecheck the carriage assembly to ensure that all the exposed edges are sanded or rounded and that all the surfaces where two boards meet are flush.
