Assemble the top. The top of the rack, or muzzle rest, uses 2x2 cedar blocks to cradle the gun muzzles. The spaces in the muzzle rest should match those of the carriage assembly. To assemble the muzzle rest, cover the 2x6 that doubles as the top of the rack with felt. The top is three inches longer than the 1x6 front (see materials list). Cut the 2x2 blocks to length and pre-drill two holes in each block with a counter-bore. Use the carriage to lay out the blocks in the correct position with the proper spacing. Attach the blocks with 2 1/2-inch screws.
